            Bug ID: 502328
Summary: Checking `Enable automatic spell checking` in the
settings does not enable spell checking automatically.
    Classification: Applications
           Product: NeoChat
           Version: 24.12.3
          Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: General
          Assignee: fe...@posteo.de
          Reporter: s.p.he...@gmx.net
                CC: c...@carlschwan.eu, j...@redstrate.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Checking `Enable automatic spell checking` in the settings does not enable
spell checking automatically.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the settings dialog for an account.
2. Go to `Spell Checking`
3. Select `Enable automatic spell checking`
4. Close the settings dialog
5. Mistype a word in the message compose window

OBSERVED RESULT

The mistyped word turns red, but does not get the red underline. Clicking on
the word with the right mouse opens a menu without word suggestions and where
the menu item `Spell check` is not checked.

Checking the `Spell check` menu item will suggest words at the next right
click.

EXPECTED RESULT

The spell check should automatically be enabled, because the corresponding
configuration has been checked.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon 6.4.8
KDE Plasma Version: Flatpak installed
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0
Qt Version: Using 6.8.3 and built against 6.8.2

COMMENTS

Why is the mistyped word red *and* underlined? Wouldn't one indication be
sufficient?
