A screenshot of the launch view of kate, showing some of the outlined issues.

SUMMARY
When setting dark mode in the gnome settings, Kate attempts to follow the
system theme but does not do so properly. In particular, some text is set as
black on a dark background, while other boxes remain entirely white.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set appearance to dark in gnome settings
2. Set Kate to follow system theme

OBSERVED RESULT
Text is discolored and some boxes are white.

EXPECTED RESULT
No black text on grey backgrounds, no white boxes that don't match the rest of
the theming.
