            Bug ID: 373529
Summary: Kwin crashes after resuming system
           Product: kwin
           Version: 5.8.4
          Platform: Archlinux Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Keywords: drkonqi
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: hagyma...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kwin_x11 (5.8.4)

Qt Version: 5.7.0
Frameworks Version: 5.28.0
Operating System: Linux 4.4.33-1-MANJARO x86_64
Distribution: "Manjaro Linux"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed: I simply woke my PC up from
sleep, as I usually do, only to be greeted by the "Kwin stopped unexpectedly"
message box.
This has happened twice in a row. Take note here - I had nothing open in the
foreground the first time it happened. This time around, I had Firefox running,
with two tabs open - Gmail and YouTube.

- Unusual behavior I noticed: Lately I have to start Kwin, Plasmashell or both
manually after rebooting or logging into a different account.

Scenario #1: Plasmashell starts, but Kwin doesn't
Solution: "kwin_x11 --replace" in Yakuake

Scenario #2: Kwin starts, but Plasmashell doesn't
Solution: "plasmashell" in either Yakuake or Konsole

Scenario #3: Neither start and I get no output after logging in through SDDM -
screen turns off (bad sign on a laptop), nothing shows up.
Solution: Directly restart PC by holding down the power button. Nothing else
works, not even SysRq shortcuts.

- Custom settings of the application: Loads of desktop effects enabled. None of
them are 3rd party, though. All of them were bundled in the distro I installed
(Manjaro KDE 16.10.2).

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.
