Bug ID: 357009 Summary: Partial image freeze when changing display configuration Product: kwin Version: 5.5.1 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: xrandr Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: maxim.starga...@gmail.com On display attachment, when display configuration on laptop is changed, image of window open on the laptop display is frozen, although mouse pointer remain responsive and can move over it. Desktop on the attached monitor is fine in the same time. Restarting kwin (kwin_x11 --replace) helps, as well as disconnecting external monitor - after configuration automatically falls back to initial single display config. Solution with restarting kwin works but seems to live xserver(?) in the strange fragile state, which produce occasional image blinking and after some time (hours of work) leads to xserver crashing. Problem only observed with compositing turned on. Issue was not there on the v. 5.4.3 and showed itself after upgrade to 5.5.0. I am observing problem with xserver 1.18.0, although I am not absolutely shure it was not there when I was using (for a quite short period of time) xorg 1.18.0 & kwin 5.4.3 No useful output is observed in system logs when problem occurs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect external monitor (tested with vga connection only) 2. Observe the problem 3. 1-st gen. Core Intel video.
