Well, I am sure it is possible, but involves much more work. The profile tool, just extracts the line and then I give the line and the raster to Sextantes profile function and it returns the values.
Your variant, like a "Pixel-Inspector", involves many more GUI stuff actions. Hence, needs more time to program. However, you have seen that it is possible to have a line string that has multiple segments?
