Hmm, after re-thinking, the GDAL version 1.10 can also be loaded as SQLite extension http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_sqlite.html It means that Spatialite can be made to read anything that GDAL/OGR can read, and if OpenJUMP can read Spatialite then it can read all the GDAL/OGR formats at the same and Spatialite queries could be used with all data sources.
