Hi Chris,
I am a new developer that has just joined the community and am hoping
to get started with some OJ development.
You're very welcome
I have two aims.
1- To use the OJ platform as a host for an application we are looking
to build. It will be used to assist in the prevention of global
migratory pests.
Interesting, can you give a bit more details about your organization,
application funding... (not a requirement, just that I'm curious)
2- To offer any work we/I do back to the user community in order to
advance Open Jump as a platform.
Would be great. Let's see how we can collaborate.
I would like to get the latest stable version of OJ into the NetBeans
IDE. So could I start by asking a couple of polite (perhaps simple?)
questions please?
1. One of my colleagues has recently downloaded what to appears to the
source for v1.5.1 - I have read "how to obtain the source code" and
have tried to add this project (v1.5.1) to NB IDE > File > New Project
> Java Project with Existing Sources > however I get the following error:
/Package Folder Already Used in Project
The following folders that you selected are already used in this or
another project. A package folders can only be used on one project in
one package folder list (source packages or test packages).
C:\[my install path\src(owned by OpenJUMP svn snapshot)/
So I am guessing this is locked due to some kind of SVN version control?
Not sure if you tried to use the openjump binary files as dependencies
of your project or if you used the sources, as there is currently no
source bundle in the 1.5.1 download section.
There are 3 ways to start (it depends if you just want to create
extensions or if you need to modify source code of openjump core) :
- Create your project and add openjump libraries (.jar) as project
dependencies. You can create extension this way.
- Download source from a source bundle in download section (last one is
from 1.5.0, we have to prepare one for 1.5.2)
- Download source from svn (see below)
2. I then decided to try and download the source code via SVN using
TortoiseSVN - I used the path below.
https://jump-pilot.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jump-pilot/core/branches/stable%201.5/
However I am requested to enter a username and password, so cannot
proceed.
As far as I know, user/password is only mandatory to commit, not to
checkout,
but maybe you still have to subscribe to a sourceforge account to do that.
Did you try to checkout just letting user and pwd field blank ?
My question is as follows.
1. I am doing the correct thing <above>?
Not sure what you did exactly in 1.
2 is probably a good way to go. Just tested to checkout from
|
https://jump-pilot.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jump-pilot
|||
||in netbeans without entering usr/pwd, and it worked fine
if not
2. How (step by step) is the easiest/quickest way to get the source
code, please include any items such as best version, URL,
username/password, svn or maven etc.
Best version : svn
url : |https://jump-pilot.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jump-pilot
maven : not familiar enough to help you, I think Ede can guide you if
you need.

I am sure this is quite simple but for a first time, I thought I would
ask as you guys sound very helpful.
Thanks in advance, Chris.
