the usage of a memo fiels would be interesting the time OJ would be ported to
handle device, E,g. forester or geologists working on field and annotating
informations.
BTW I am curious how do you estimate the time (16 hours)

a new driver that automatically writes out DBT files for fields larger than 255
characters. Currently that code throws an exception "ShapefileWriter does not

Does anyone know if any other GIS supports this? If not, you would lose the
Memo fields when loading into another GIS.
I would estimate that it would take about 16 hours (on average) to program this
function.
