Hi Peppe,
Memo field support is possible. It would require modification of the
ShapefileWriter code in com.vividsolutions.jump.io, or (even better)
creating a new driver that automatically writes out DBT files for fields
larger than 255 characters. Currently that code throws an exception
"ShapefileWriter does not support strings longer than 255 characters" when
this situation occurs.
Does anyone know if any other GIS supports this? If not, you would lose the
Memo fields when loading into another GIS.
I would estimate that it would take about 16 hours (on average) to program
this function.
regards,
Larry
