Uwe, I agree that we need to have a Add Dataset wizard that at the first step would show icons for the types of dataset that can be loaded, File, Database, WFS, WMS etc). When selecting these the next panels in the wizard would be specific to that type of data set. In fact the panels I have for file will fit nicely into this.
