Hi Stefan,

For windows I'd like it to be openjump.exe.

For all UNIX based platforms I'd like it to be just openjump, and if necessary put the logic in this file to do anything different on various flavours of UNIX (inc MacOSX)

btw.. on the naming:

users from other platforms should be able to distinguish their version from the others. further i think endings are important (otherwise i would have not known how to start OJ on osx)

Hi,

Can anyone on linux give the attached script a test and make sure it works before we check it in What file name shall I give the checked in version? I like just using openjump rather than having a .sh and platform on the end. Although
we could create a generic build that has all of the start scripts and
a UNIX specific one that just has the openjump executable.
At some point I also want to create a Gentoo ebuild for jump.
I tested it on debian and it runs out of the box. I do not have any
dot-files in my home though, so I could not test this.
It comes up as usual and I have noticed no problems after a short test.
I tested it as well on a Debian box, and it's working fine as expected.

I strongly vote for naming it openjump-unix.sh to indicate that it is
the startscript for *NIX-like OS.
I've got no preferences for the name, although shorter is better IMHO.

Since we've got no MacOS here, how're we going to proceed?

Regards, Andreas
