The statistics are `null` when it is not set in the options. If it were
not `null` unit test
`RocksDBTest#shouldAddValueProvidersWithStatisticsToInjectedMetricsRecorderWhenRecordingLevelDebug()`
would fail. I also verified with a debug run.
