I am going through this interesting discussion. I am of course enjoying and
learning from this. There are two groups here one says Tribals are Hindu and
other says they are not. I read some books where some say there is no religion
like Hindu. This name is given by some non Indian researchers. In India people
follow a way of life that is sanatan Dharma. We also found some write Dharma is
not Religion.

Many people are not bothered on who is hindu and who is christian or who is
musalman. I am among them. If religion is only matter of faith it is a matter
of individual. When it matter of Mass-Faith it becomes something very complex.
What many of us are convinvinced that one must live a life that goes beyond
self interest and ego. That should be in pursuit of youth. What I am taught by
my parents that there was no Arya or Dravidas. They showed me numerous examples
where Arya means those wh are in quest of Truth and Light. I studied many of
the writings of Sri Aurobindo a great philosopher and yogi of moden time. He
also interpreted in the same way. I studied his book on Foundation of Indian
Culture where he has narrated many examples and descriptions on Indian way of
life. I also studied Swami Vivekanada, He did not agree with this Aryan and
Dravidiayan concept. Many historians in India do not agree with that also.
After reading postings of great
people like you, we common people are finding lot of confusions.
After all, what will happen if we prove or disprove tribals are hindu. Will it
make a way to bring peace and harmony in Kandhamal or other places of world
where communal violence is persisting? Violence , hatred and facism etc are the
practices of old human race who believed on animousity or animal instincts of
human nature. Now we are definitely different from that race which has
undergone several transformations in mind and life practices. Therefore there
is no place violence, greed, hatred and all that goes against human prosperity
and harmonious progress of spiritual life in society. I believe religion is
term of past and spirituality is the term for present and future.
