Jesse Glick was doing a short-cut to try and get a file with a fix to some
people for testing... bold boy.

It should be mostly safe, the only changes are supposed to be additional
diagnostics in remote channel... but I cannot confirm whether others are
present... and I don't think he pushed the branch with these changes (which
is a pity because I have to give the same customer another build with some
other stuff in it and combining the two would be great... in any case I use
a file sharing service rather than try and hijack repo.jenkins-ci.org!)
