I definitely expected it to be a Geometry null with type SRID although that's also definitely not correct. We could still improve the situation for stuff that returns geometry or geography (i.e., the ST_Intersection(NULL, NULL) non-deterministically returning a geometry or geography depending on kernel registration order), but there's also no reason somebody should type that on purpose so I'm less concerned.
