I agree with @paleolimbot that the Parquet writer does not change users' input and we will still see all the five cases from my summary. To make bbox of cases (2) and (3) more effective, an application that generates parquet files need to transform empty or invalid geometry features to null values so that readers reading these files will only see cases (1) (4) (5). Adding the concept of empty bbox to the Parquet spec may complicates the reader because it cannot blindly discard bbox with NaN values. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
