Well, as a heterosexual female who does not choose to wear dresses every day
and only wears makeup on special occasions, I must say that this is an
interesting post.  I have taken a moderate amount of sh*t all my life for
not primping daily.  I notice that people I meet treat me with a lower level
of respect and authority when I'm not "made up" - despite the fact that I'm
a rather successful and influential person in many areas both personal and
business.

I'd be interested in referenced studies on the topic and certainly in
opportunities to demonstrate that this is a symptom of a facade-oriented
society rather than a personal problem.
