I posted on this a while ago. UCITA mainly ratifies existing
decisional law in the area of copyright licensing (so if you oppose
the current trend in decisional law you would probably also oppose
UCITA, but at least one should express it as opposition to the
trend). In other words, the adoption of the UCITA's copyright
provisions would not effect a substantial change in the law.
UCITA also creates a proprietary property interest in raw information
(and this is considerably more controversial), and clarifies some
legal issues related to transactions consummated by electronic means
(issues which are presently unclear).
There's a _lot_ of FUD running around regarding UCITA, most of it
coming from people who have no legal training at all.
I oppose UCITA, but because of its attempt to create a proprietary
property interest in raw data. If you took them out, I'd support it.
