You're not dead yet. Therefore, it hasn't. It might take time before you
can afford formal education in it, if that's your heart's desire, but it
can still be done. Formally or informally.

Look up the Linux Documentation project. Find any general/theory stuff it
has, or links to, and start learning. Self-taught can actually be
better-taught.
