Just for the record, I was suggesting to add the E_STRICT in PHP6, not in PHP 5.3.
I'd missed that, but it doesn't make a whole lot of difference IMHO. The reuse of an existing symbol is going to bring problems, and if we do it now we'll be blocking the possibility of a better resolution.
