For the uninitiated, why do we care what the israelis call a namespace separator? When will we be concerned about the Arabic version? Or the Chinese, Japanese or Klingon version? Or the Elmer Fudd version "twipple-colon"?
We care because T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM is already known to millions thanks to the two Israelis who wrote the original Zend Engine, so using similar syntax for the second separator will make PHP error messages around that token more intuitive for said millions :)
That said - PIAMIM is problematic. (pe'ameem). And T_SHALOSH_PIAMIM_NEKUDOTAYIM is... long. T_SHALOSH_NEKUDOTAYIM would be better (leaving millions with a firm belief that "paamayim" is Hebrew for "two" or "shalosh" for "thrice" but - whatever).
