like how its case sensitive except when it's not.... and how array functions 
start array_, except when they don't.  if (): is valid, while(): is valid, 
but you can't do it with switch, because.. well, it's white space sensitive.

I don't think PHP programmers are fussed about inconsisency, I think they are 
kinda used to it :)
