And there is lies the problem :)
Most of my customers still refuse to accept Linux boxes on their networks, so I end up with Windows ;) But we are staring to win converts!
It would be nice if THIS explanation formed the basis of install.apache2.php rather than referring to the Apache notes which are unreadable, then perhaps we would have a better grasp on things.
And I'll still stick with Apache2 on the linux boxes as well :)
