Exactly, which is why I want to avoid NFS and use LMTP for delivery between
the mailhub and the IMAP server..

why? My Mailhub will be running on the firewall, processing incoming
mail. The user's mailbox will be sitting on (potentially one of many)
IMAP server systems (which may for some users also contain shell
accounts etc). What's silly about that?

I don't want to force a switch to sieve if users are already familiar with
procmail. Migration and learning etc takes time.

As I said, I *don't* want NFS, which is why I'm thinking of LMTP.
