Justin, I use Opterons too, and very old versions of it. Time for upgrade is coming up. But AMD is my preferred CPU vendor, acceptable performance compared to Intel and very affordable price.
Dan/Alan, Sorry I just searched on the src database. I have no idea where you would actually add or disable CPU support. My question was: Is Oracle not offering Opterons in Solaris but it still is supported in OpenSolaris. Going forward, it will be impossible for me to run official Solaris, but will it still be feasible to run OpenSolaris on my choice of hardware. Look at the exact source is the answer, and I forgot to search for it elsewhere. Opteron 6100's seem to be good for now in OpenSolaris. I found this http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg38645.html Thanks --- On Thu, 5/27/10, Justin Lee Ewing <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Justin Lee Ewing <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [indiana-discuss] OpenSolaris and AMD opteron support > To: "Amit Kulkarni" <[email protected]> > Cc: [email protected] > Date: Thursday, May 27, 2010, 9:49 PM > I use AMD Opteron processors > exclusively and they work great... although > I must say I don't have any of the latest/greatest > installed right > now... mine are about two years old.
