I use AMD Opteron processors exclusively and they work great... although
I must say I don't have any of the latest/greatest installed right
now... mine are about two years old. I have had no issues.

Looking at
http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/cmd/hwdata/pci.ids
it doesn't show. But the Intel Core i7's and Nehalem EX (7500's) seem to be
supported, newer than the Opterons in the tree. Where else would the support
appear in the tree?
