I don't know what Oracle's policy on release names will be, but
Sun had a long history of releasing software in a different month
than the one in the name.

The month in the release name is the scheduled release date at some
point - when software slips at the end, it doesn't make sense to
introduce additional delay by going back to redo all the documentation
and product strings, and then all the translations of those, just to
change the date/version.

The main point of the release date in the product name is to give you
an idea of the age of the release, and to ensure you can quickly
determine if one release is older or newer than the next.

You may remember that 2008.11 actually shipped in early December, but
at this point, that doesn't really matter. All you really need to know,
you can find out from the release name as it is - it's a bit over a year
old now, and came in the release series between 2008.05 and 2009.06.
