I run OpenSolaris-b131 with TB3 at this very moment without doing all this. How can this be?

So... You're running the TB3 that COMES with OpenSolaris... not one from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/3.0.1/contrib/solaris_tarball/ (those require LD_BIND_NOW).

Yes. I do run the one that comes with OpenSolaris. It seems to be the better one, if I understand your message correctly.
I enjoy the benefits of version 3 without the hassle.

And... you're not having the "msf" problem probably because you don't have hundreds of folders in your mail server. You would hit the"ulimit / extendedFILE) problem if you had more than 200 folders or so...

This is true. I don't have so many mailboxes, so I couldn't speak for the Osol TB3 in this matter.

But, all in all, I'n not convinced about the benefits of running the mozilla contrib release, if the one that comes with the snv betas works OK.
