To show or not to show applications' own branding/name seems an issue would be brought up once in a while, but my own humble, little, tiny $0.02 is that I prefer to see the names of applications instead of a general description like "Browse Internet" or "Movie Player" or "Image Editor" For one reason I think it's sorta salute to the application and author(s) behind it. another is that I feel better if I know what to be launched before any icon/button is clicked rather than after. My $0.02 anyway.
