This is the information I needed.  THANK YOU very much.

It's not as if I didn't look.  Just a few days ago "http://www.sun.com/
software/solaris/opensolaris/get.jsp" listed the minimum memory requirement
for opensolaris at 256MB with 512MB recommended.

OpenSolaris could be a bit more friendly by offering a link to the system
requirement page "http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/IPS/sysreq.html";
directly from the OpenSolaris Get page.

It took me four clicks _from the Learn icon_ to finally find the system
requirement page.  Unfortunately I was not able to find it last week
when I started to try to install Solaris.  ("Unfortunately" because it
will be a few years before I have a computer with 512MB.  Back to BSD,
I guess.)

Anyway, big thanks to the two individuals who offered help.  I appreciate
it.
