Well, it basically bricked my system.

First the GUI update doesn't work--it freezes.  Tried multiple times.

Then the CLI "pkg image-update" completed and created a second boot image, 
opensolaris-2.  I rebooted to it, and it just blinks and reboots back to the 
bios.  Then I tried to boot the original opensolaris-1 image.  It boots in some 
safe mode with the root filesystem read-only.  Can't fsck it because it's zfs.  
Nothing resides under /rpool.  Very unusable.  Beware!
