Hi all,
Have a small query, though not a problem but i cristy sake :)
neways, i wanted to know the purpose of the different mount points (/,
/usr,/boot,....) though i know them broadly (cos of the names duh !) but
more specific purpose. This came up cos, till now i have been manually
paritioning my Linux boxes and put in a lot of space to the "/" mount,
pretty little to "/usr", "/home" and "/boot". Last nite i tried out auto
paritioning (using the full disk and allowing the distro to break it up on
its own), and by default it gave pretty less to "/" and majorly to "/usr"
and "/home", i cudn't get the reason, ne pointers !!!
One more small query, i planta use one of my linux boxes for cvs
(finally convinced the boss that CVS on linux is relatively very very safe
than VSS on windows ;), no wars please, i believe in it !!). Can nebody out
there temme where to create the common cvs repository, i mean which mount
point "/" or "/usr" or something else. I think whereever it is should be
accessible by all the users !! That brings me back to my original question,
the default permissions on the mount points !!
If ya guys have ne suggestions, shoot !!
