Hello everyone, here are the minutes of the meeting held on feb 16, 2003, at IIT Delhi. There were about 20 people present at the meeting, and we generally discussed various topics like kernel 2.6, M$ bashing, etc etc.
More specifically, we heard about the Arjun's efforts in Naval Public School in converting the school lab to linux, straight from him. Arjun is a class 7 student in the same school, and has been using linux for the past 3 years. He has convinced his teachers to use linux, and has even installed it on all machines. Now he's waiting for his exams to get over, before he goes and configures everything to work seamlessly. Hats off to you Arjun ! Then Abhishek gave a talk on Linux For You, and talked about the magazine, what it contains, what is offers etc. He invited people to write articles for the same. Then Sudhir Gandotra gave a presentation on Kalculate, a commercial, Non Free, Financial Accounting Package, developed by his company. He talked about its features, and forthcoming additions to the package. Then Bob from Cware, a California based company, gave a presentation of a prototype of a thin client that they've developed. He talked about how they got around creating it, the difficulties they faced, why each component was chosen and its role etc. These people are also in collaboration with the National Association for Blind (RK Puram) and are helping them with some text-to-speech software(thats what i gathered from the discussions, correct me if im wrong). That was about it for the discussions. Everyone dispersed for refreshments and that was it. There were quite a number of new faces at the meet today. Hope to see more people at the next meet. regards, Gami ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
