Hello everyone,

This mail is specifically for those who have attended today's meet, or any
other meet in recent times.

I have noticed that some people, knowingly or unknowingly, tend to promote
their professional services during discussions. It may have the advantage
of people getting to know about the professional capacity of the person,
but i believe that the LUG meets are more of a casual meeting, with stress
on discussions of a technical nature in the personal capacities of the
participants.

I am more interested to know what person X feels about the topic than what
his company can do for the same. I am more interested to know how the
group can get certain tasks completed than how a company can do it. I am
more interested in technology and understanding it than discussing other
companies' business models.

The LUG meetings could get more productive if we learnt from each other's
experience rather than using the LUG as a means to sell oneself.

These are purely my views, and do not reflect the views of the LUG in any
way. if more people disagree with me than agree, we can continue with the
way things are. But if there are others in our group who feel that the
LUG is no longer a place for discussions but more like a marketplace,
then maybe we can work things out and avoid such conflicts of ideas.

regards,
Gami
