Hi,
IMHO .
1) There is no point in setting up a dedicated linux channel anywhere .
2)Those who want to communicate .Can use any existing IM facility available .
3)At most we can setup a webased frontend that allows us to use jabber as IM server(that has gateways to other protocols) . Then people can start comunicating using whatever and whomsoever they want to .
4)If I am wrong on the first account and enough number of people actually use the facility then we might setup a jabber server with ourselves also
