are you using the redhat flavour of linux.
the thing in redhat you have to enable telnet in
the new versions. I am not too sure but in the new version of redhat i think
telnet is disabled. all you got to do is enable it. how? do not ask me. I think
it there is something with /etc/service or something like that.
that is where the default services are
.
ping would work anyways becuase your network is
up.
