Hi Linuxers,
Has anybody installed a USB printer on Linux. If yes please tell
me how to do it.
My PC has a USB card(a PCI addon). It does get detected in the
booting time. Its also visible through the usbview utility.
I used printconf-gui utility for configuring the printer. The
problem comes with the entry to be written for port. I have entries for
usb in /dev/usb/____ which has entries for lp0, lp1.......,lp14
(including entries for many other type of devices like scanners, cameras
etc) Also there is a 'devices' file and a 'drivers' file in /proc/bus/usb/
I have tried to use both of these entries for the 'port' entry.
But on starting lpd I get messages like 'no such device /dev/lp0' 'no
such device /proc/bus/usb/devices'
Please suggest what I can do.
Thanks,
Paras
