I'll tell you how I did it once.
0) Make a boot floppy for Windows.
1) Boot in Linux and remove Linux partitions. (fdisk
/dev/hda)
2) Reboot. Boot with 98 boot floppy and do fdisk /mbr
3) Transfer system on the hard disk through sys a: c:
on boot floppy. 
4) Reboot. This time system boots up in 98. 
5) Insert Linux CD and do the installation again. 

Does this "programmer's_solution" sound good ?
