hello everyone,
i was trying to setup my linux box as a dial in server for a windows machine
to dial into my linux server and access the net (through my LAN connection).
i followed the steps as given in the ISP-Setup-HOWTO making necessary
changes according to my configurations and tried the setup.
im using mgetty to connect to the linux machine, and on the windows machine
i get the login prompt in the post dial terminal...but when i login, it
gives me a terminal prompt...
my query is...how do i get ppp access ??
if i write ppp or pppd at the terminal, it says command not found. also, if
on the linux machine if i login as a user and try ppp or pppd it doesnt work
saying that pppd is not setuid-root (whatever that means)
another thing i want to know is that does the login take username/password
from the unix passwd or shadow file or does it take them from pap-secrets or
chap-secrets ?
also, if i try to connect from windows with the post-dial terminal screen
option disabled, then i get the "the computer you have dialled to has
disconnected u" crap.
please help.
