RPM package upgrade On Redhat 6.X its not possible to install/Upgrade packages of Redhat 7.x. Reason is that your RPM package software itself does not support new rpms.here is a simple solution.just go to ftp://ftp.rpm.org/pub/rpm/dist/rpm-4.0.x/ download db3-3.1.14-0.3.6x.i386.rpm, db3-devel-3.1.14-0.3.6x.i386.rpm, db3-utils-3.1.14-0.3.6x.i386.rpm, rpm-build-4.0-6x.i386.rpm, rpm-devel-4.0-6x.i386.rpm, popt-1.6-6x.i386.rpm, rpm-python-4.0-6x.i386.rpm, rpm-4.0-6x.i386.rpm Save a copy of /var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm and /bin/rpm somewhere.Do rpm -Uvh db3-* {rpm,popt}-* rpm --rebuilddb rpm -q --whatrequires librpm.so.0 Rebuild those packages from the Red Hat 7.0 src.rpm's.
