I have RH6.1 installed on a production server running Kernel 2.2.12-20.

I have RPM version 3.0.3-2 installed and wish to upgrade. I downloaded
rpm-4.0.3-7x.i386.rpm from the archives of RH6.2 updates from the Redhat site.

I did a "rpm -UvhF rpm-4.0.3-7x.i386.rpm" and it says "query of rpm-4.0.3-7x.i386.rpm
failed". I tried a "rpm -ivh rpm-4.0.3-7x.i386.rpm" and it says "rpm-4.0.3-7x.i386.rpm
cannot be installed".

I remember Raj Mathur having a bad experience on the upgradation. Subsequently some
body had said RedHat's RPM binary does the necessary upgrade.

Whats wrong? Any hints.

Anand Shankar
