I will say that there are a few things in the article. If you go thru the comments, you will notice the following kinds of problems being faced by the americans..
1. Unemployed or semi employeed american SW guy blaming indians for taking away their jobs, abt H1-B workers being slave workers, etc.. There is a slashdot article every now and then which raises these kinda comments. And a large audience of slashdot seems to be unemployed tech workers who are against any outsourcing! 2. There is a big problem communicating with ppl from india (for the americans) -- This is a real problem, but the factors that affect this most are the distance and the timezone differences. So if you are working in a team at one place, you can ask some1 about some code, etc. When some1 from america tries to contact some1 from india abt this kinda problem, the answer takes at least 1 day to come back. If not managed properly this can be a big problem, but if done properly, you can have ppl giving bug reports before they leave the office and have fixed code on the source repository the next day. 3. Another problem with communication is with the specifications. When you do work with people who are in a different timezone, country & culture, you will face problems about what you see as your requirements in the project, and what the other person sees them as. This is a common sw engineering problem. The differences between america and india just makes this a bigger problem than when you have everyone at one place. 4. People in us outsource small projects.. outsourcing works best for large projects or when your company has an outsourcing partner who maintains a long term relationship with you. 5. Lets face it, in india you do have lots of companies that take up projects and then don't deliver. I am sure that many of these problems are familiar to many of us around here. This is just my summary of the comments that I saw in this story. Bye, /\ |\/| |3 /\ r > There had been talks of India competing with China etc. around here > for increasing outsourced work from US.
