There had been talks of India competing with China etc. around here for increasing outsourced work from US. This thread on Slashdot provides a *very* interesting look at the problems faced. Needless to say, many folks keep recommending China. http://ask.slashdot.org/askslashdot/02/05/14/2044245.shtml?tid=156 What is interesting is that while nobody is disagreeing with the amount of talent present in India(apart from the price arbitrage that Indian software companies feed on) their major problem is communication. While they do assert that India' advantage is that there is a high number of English speaking folks, they keep mentioning the poor communicating abilities on phone, on email etc. It would be very interesting to know what exactly is wrong - is it the accent, is it the fact that the english taught in our educational system stresses less on communication(it's primary pupose) and more on answering routine exam questions. Very insightful read that. - Sandip -- Sandip Bhattacharya Mindframe Software Work: sandip @ mindsw.com, http://www.mindsw.com Play: sandipb @ bigfoot.com, http://www.sandipb.net ----------------------------------------------- ================================================ To subscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subscribe in subject header To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header Archives are available at http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd%40wpaa.org =================================================
