distrib users who use distrib packaged tools]

For years, I had wished that Emacs had color support in the
console. It didn't(Xemacs partially did), but vim did. Caused me to
resignedly use vim (with it's horrid default indentation style) when
in console and emacs when in X.

I just downloaded and compiled Emacs 21.2.1. It supports
font-lock-mode(read syntax highlighting in color) at a normal linux
console.

I haven't tried it in X yet. But it is supposed to have toolbar
support, and fancy scrollbars(?) etc. Toolbars had been in xemacs for
ages, and I wonder what fancy toolbars are all about in an editor
which proclaims to be one of the most keyboard-friendly of them all.
