Hello All
We all love Linux / Opensource because of the freedom it offers. Most of us have a regular job. When we are an employee we ususally lack the freedom. The freedom to choose what we love to work on. It is the seniors in the organization who decide what we work on or rather spend our time on for which we get paid. At least this is the case with many of us. Lucky are those who enjoy the freedom and get paid!! But Linux has not developed like this. Thousands have worked "whole heartedly" in their own time, enjoying the freedom, without getting paid and with very poor resources. Linux has born out of this selfless service in the true spirit of giving. Today we know Linux is giving a run for their money to the big guys. Big corporations with unlimited budgets have failed to create anything like Linux. Corporations lack an important ingredient that the open source community has, the "openness". Today the management of every company, big or small, is looking for means to have their employees work in a team spirit. But the very nature of these corporations make it difficult for an "employee" to feel totally a part of the organization. There is petty politics , back biting, and so much of filth in such organizations. From the outside every thing looks perfect, but the minds of employees is occupied most of the time in either pleasing their bosses or thwarting others efforts to supersede them in this mindless race. Results are that an individual has very little focus on the job at hand. The opensource community lacks an important ingredient that the corporates have, the "structure". If an open source community could be created with a structure like that of a corporate and be open at the same time, it would be phenomenal. The idea behind Linuxking is to create a structure with an openness. This is an invitation to join an opensource group called Linuxking.net Linuxking aims to be a community of Linux / opensource lovers who work together and do something that they love for a living. I am an Art of Living teacher. (www.artofliving.org). Many of us would have heard about the amazing workshops being offered by the Art of Living foundation in Delhi and around the world in more than 135 countries. The workshop focuses on the breath and the various tendencies of an avrage human mind. The average human mind by nature has the tendency to accumulate stress which over a period of time becomes detrimental in its development. It leads to all the miseries in life due to its inherent nature. Minds nature is to wander in the past and the future almost all the time. If you observe the way your mind works you will notice to your surprise that it is hardly present in the moment. Most of the time it is either occupied with things that happened in the past or imagining something that is in the furutre. As a result we miss out the present moment. There are other such tendencies which can be observed if we could keep our mind in the present moment :) And the breath is the only tool that can help us keep the mind in the present moment. The workshop is a tremendous experience and helps one to realise ones true potential. One can come out totally refreshed and rejuvenatd. It is amazing how one can a develop a feeling of belongingness after undergoing the workshop. My vision is to form Linuxking, ( I have registered artoflinux.org and soon will have this as the name for the community / group or whatever we may wish to call this) by this group of freethinking and open minded individuals. Life will be fun if we could do what we love to do and get paid and make a living, fun living!!!!! I conducted a seminar while I was in Delhi in December last and ten people attended. The response was overwhelming and enthusiastic. Out of the ten, six have already taken the art of living workshop and are now part of Linuxking. If you are keen on joining us please send me an mail off the list. Hoping to hear from you Thanks and warm regards Hariharan ================================================ To subscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subscribe in subject header To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header Archives are available at http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd%40wpaa.org =================================================
