HP has rolled out ultra-low-power servers designed for large Web applications, search engines, and social networking firms. The project is termed as Project Moonshot. These tiny servers from HP make use of cell phone-type components in a server architecture. The company claims that they consume 89 per cent less power than conventional servers. The servers will run only Canonical and Red Hat Linux, and not Windows.
