a. X -query remotehost will give you the login screen of the system. Offcourse you have to enable xdmcp in the remote. b.Xnest can do the same within X environment. Or try ssh as suggested by another poster. Please note thate above do not grab the desktop already running on the remote. They only enable you to use the remote system.
