* What is FOSS ?
(including the history of GNU (by RMS) and Linux (by Linus Torvalds) and
make them clearly understand what is GNU and what is Linux and why it should
be called GNU/Linux than just Linux)

as steve elaborated in detail at
http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/pipermail/ilugc/2010-August/060028.html
Thanks steve

* Difference between Proprietary Softwares and FOSS (licensing issues)

* Why FOSS for education?

Why FOSS for Education?
  Lower Costs
  Reliability, Performance and Security
  Build Long-term Capacity
  Open Philosophy
  Encourage Innovations
  Alternative to Illegal Copying
  Possibility of Localization
  Learning from Source Code

* Start using GNU/Linux Operating System in less than 3 minutes (Demo using
Linux Mint-9 Live DVD to open word/pdf documents, play videos, get connected
to internet, accessing USB devices and so on)

* Making a student to install Ubuntu /Linux-Mint in simple 7 steps.

* Intro to all major apps. in GNU/Linux with comparison to Windows apps.

* Playing videos of Truth Happens, BigBuckBunny, Pranav Mistry's Sixth Sense
Technology

* Showing Marble / Compiz 3D / CairoDock OpenGL effects (this alone attracts
many students towards GNU/Linux)

* Activities of ILUG-C and how to join in the list.

* Setup a FOSS lab (a minimum of 60 computers) in the college using
Fedora-13 (We install about 4225 packages in all the computers using
kickstart method and ask the students to work on it for sometime and explore
the FOSS world)

* Finally distribute few bunch of various distro DVDs (mostly live DVDs) and
ask them to share among themselves.
