I've installed Karmic Koala on a Dell Inspiron 640M. For the sake of some Windows specific software (trading software), I tried Wine 1.2 that came with the distro and it did not work. I installed VirtualBox 3.1, WinXP Home that was licenced for this laptop.
Ubuntu works well with the 1440x900 resolution. Under VBox, a particular game reports Direct3D has not been enabled. On checking the drivers, found no proprietary drivers loaded. Synaptics showed Mesa7.6 (latest) installed and Vbox has 3D acceleration enabled. Questions: 1. Can Direct3D support be enabled with the regular vesa driver? 2. I've downloaded the latest Intel GMA Linux driver source. Has anyone used this on Koala? Any downsides? -- Mohan Sundaram _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [email protected] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
