yes, one normally needs more than just a kernel to actually do something
with a device. maemo is just that - its a OS ( kernel ) and has a few
apps built into it so people can do things.
Nokia is a speacial hardware based on TI OMAP ARM SoCs and also many
custom hardware features.
the distro however, is a generic debian derivative. you can add / remove
/ enable / disable whatever you might need.
So questions is ........ is it possible to make it run on other
hardware also Meaning non-nokia Tablets pcs based on regular x86
cpus ?
the maeomo sandbox's all run generic x86 and x86_64 fine.
